Kristen Stewart says "Twilight" is a "gay movie"
Kristen Stewart rose to fame for her role as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" film series, which was released between 2008 and 2012.
While the films superficially depict a romance between a normal schoolgirl (Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Stewart spends a lot of time reflecting on the films after they are over and sees a distinctly "gay" tinge in them.
"I only see it now," she told Variety. [but] I also think the fact that I was there, it was pervasive.
Incidentally, Stewart is openly gay and is engaged to her boyfriend, Dylan Meyer, in 2021.
"It's such a gay movie," she continued. Taylor [Lautner], Rob, and me." I mean, we're Mormon women who wrote this book. It's about oppression, about seeking things that destroy you. It's a very gothic, gay trend, and I love that."
Stewart has two films coming up soon: "Love Me," which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, and "Love Lies Bleeding," which opens March 8.
And since "Twilight," she has found her voice beautifully through a variety of projects, including "Spencer," in which she played Princess Diana, "Happy Season," "Charlie's Angels," "Seberg" and "Still Alice."
I literally will watch any film this woman is involved in in any capacity and cannot wait for her next film.
