'Succession's' Sarah Snook Told 'You're a Nobody' Early in Her Career - But She Laughed at the End

A week ago tonight, Sarah Snook of Succession won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Series Drama. It's hard now to imagine a world without Snook and her character Shiv Roy, but had she listened to her (utterly stupid) casting agent early in her career, she might have quit the industry altogether.

Snook told The Times that in one of her first roles, a casting agent told her, "You're a nobody." (This industry is cruel and unnecessarily cruel. ) "I will whiten my teeth, darken my hair, get a personal trainer, lose weight and look like it," she said. Thankfully, the project's director and screenwriter pushed for her, and she got the part.

On that same project, Snook revealed that she ate a small piece of cake, according to Deadline, and the producers admonished her in front of the cast and crew. Meanwhile, the costume designer told her to keep eating. She said, "Meanwhile, I was dying inside."

The role that defined Snooki's career (so far, Snooki is far from done) was Shiv, Logan Roy's only daughter, which she played for four seasons. Snook said that when the finale aired last May, she burst into tears. 'I was three or four weeks postpartum,' she said. Hormones were raging. But it was the chrysalis that marked the end of a really important and special part of my life."

Snook's next goal is to play all 26 (!) roles in "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" in London's West End. in London's West End.
