Florence Pugh's spiky hairstyle is right out of the early Aughts!
Since shaving her head at the 2023 Met Gala, Florence Pugh has sported a number of stunning, ultra-short hairstyles. But her latest Y2K-inspired look may be head and shoulders above the rest, if only in terms of nostalgia.
On Wednesday, January 3, new photos of Pugh and singer Rachel Chinnulili were released. The snapshots look like paparazzi photos from their early days, with the girls walking arm-in-arm in coordinated, glittering ensembles. But the real star here is Pugh's hairstyle: nostalgic and spiky with a hint of Lizzie McGuire's energy. Colored a cool blonde, the style features a myriad of tiny locks pointing in different directions throughout Pugh's head. Some of her locks are left loose at the neck, with sparse bangs taking over the fringe.
In keeping with the Y2K theme, the Oscar nominee's makeup was applied with a brush of shiny gray eyeshadow. Chinourilli sweetly incorporated the skinny brow, a beauty routine of the era, with Pugh's eyebrows dark, thick, and expertly laminated.
Although the exact occasion of the photo shoot is unknown (not that the occasion needed to be), the image, taken by Lauren Harris, was posted in honor of Pugh's 28th birthday.
"Happy birthday to my sweet darling Flo," the iconic-looking chinuriri wrote in the caption of the post. 'Sending you kisses. Thank you for surrounding my 2023 with your beautiful friendship.
Their glamour came from Georgia Hope, a creative UK-based makeup artist whom the Euphoria Girls would absolutely adore, and Shamara Roper, a hair stylist who knows how to turn a lock of hair into a sculpture.
Pugh once said she shaved her hair because she "wanted to eliminate vanity," but it's fun to see her play with her look. There's nothing wrong with being vain once in a while. Especially on your birthday.
