Rihanna dresses up her loungewear with a leopard coat
For the past few weeks, the holiday season has brought some of the industry's top celebrities to Aspen, including Rihanna. As expected, the "Anti" singer's stay in this star-studded ski town has brought out some great Rihanna-esque outfits. For example, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky matched in an oversized gray hoodie and denim, which she then chemoed with a crisp white pea coat by Chemo Sabe (which "Wives of Beverly Hills" fans know is thanks to Kyle Richards) and a $900 brown cowgirl hat I topped it off. The star had another notable look as she departed Aspen: Rihanna paired a sweat suit with a large leopard coat. Her on-the-go look is one of the more relatable moments in her style file, and I'm wearing sweatpants on the plane, too! -but it celebrated her effortlessly cool Rihanna-ness.
On Wednesday, Fenty Mogul was photographed boarding a private jet with Rocky and her two sons, RZA and Riot Rose; the "Diamonds" singer ditched the glamour and wore an oversized (now sold out) gray sweat suit from Awake She boarded the plane wearing an oversized (now sold out) gray sweatshirt from Awake. The cozy hoodie and long sweatpants were embellished with navy blue stitching and the brand's logo. A green beanie kept her warm, and a long leopard-print coat from Giorgio Armani added a touch of luxury to her relaxed look. Bottoms are low-top fuzzy white moon boots.
There's a reason Rihanna stuck to a simple coat and sweatshirt combination during her Aspen trip. It's effortless and stylish, especially when running errands or traveling with kids. It seems that RiRi is not the only celebrity who has recently endorsed layered ensembles. A few days earlier, Katie Holmes was also spotted in a familiar uniform, wearing gray allo sweatpants and a long camel coat. If there's anything to be gleaned from Rihanna's latest outfit, it's that there are, after all, fashion-forward ways to dress up your go-to athleisure set, proving that a good coat really does elevate even the simplest of looks.
For the rest of the winter, we're taking notes from our multi-faceted stars and reserving our secret, no-secret styling hacks from Ri for those days when you want comfort without style. A matching sweat suit set is never a bad idea, and apparently it's best worn under a big statement coat. You can pair it with chunky boots or slip into your favorite shoes (in our experience, you can never go wrong with sneakers). After all, when did Rihanna lead us wrong?
