If you feel good, you look good, is Kate Hudson's philosophy. Today, the 44-year-old was clearly feeling good enough that her beauty choices brightened a wildly gray day.

The "Almost Famous" actress rocked fresh with bubblegum pink lipstick as she left ABC Studios in New York City on Thursday, January 4. Her famous blonde locks also did a great job of standing in for the missing sunshine, matted against a backdrop of fur coats and striped multicolored sweaters.

Hudson stopped by the studio to appear on "The View," where she talked about achieving her New Year's health and fitness resolutions.

"It always seems like a lot of work. For those of you who wake up on New Year's Day and think, 'This is my year,' how do you change your habits so that it becomes your life?" The host of the "podcast" asked. 'I've been doing it my whole life. My brain is programmed to want to work out and eat (often). But the reality is, even for me, it's hard. And even more so for someone who is trying to start a new habit."

The trick is to incorporate play. Have fun with your inner child and try to do activities that feel good to you.

Hudson once said something similar when discussing her daily beauty routine in Marie Claire. And that it is always time to play.

"It's a lot of fun to talk about beauty products, but the reality is that if you don't feel good internally, none of that matters," she said. 'So what are we actively doing for our brains? Then we can put on makeup and have fun with it. And it really is so much fun
