A painting of Queen Elizabeth as a child was auctioned.

Queen Elizabeth II had many talents, but if her own mother, Queen Elizabeth, is to be believed, drawing was not one of them.

This fun fact was revealed when a painting that the young Princess Elizabeth had done around the age of five in the early 1930s was put up for auction.

Boston-based RR Auctions is accepting bids on the red crayon drawing of a house and a letter from Dowager Queen Elizabeth to Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie. In the letter, the Dowager Queen describes her eldest daughter's drawing as "very poor." (Dear Sir James, I am very sorry that I was not aware that you were to make a speech tonight. Elizabeth insisted on a roof with lots of little windows for the maids in the nursery.

"Please, Sir James, do not sue Elizabeth by name. It is not that we are not proud to have her name mentioned. However, what you are saying is that she painted a picture of what a hospital should be. Please forgive me for making this statement!

"However, I hope this poor drawing will be of some help. I wrote this in a great hurry after meeting Cynthia (Mrs. Asquith).

She added a P.S. 'If you can manage it, please don't let the press take pictures of this.'

The painting appears to be the young princess's proposal for the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital building in London, of which Barrie was an advocate and patron.

At the time of this writing, the set is listed for $1,331, with bidding ending on January 10!
