Angelina Jolie's Brother Says He's 'Protective' of Her and Their Children as Divorce from Brad Pitt Progresses
Angelina Jolie's brother, James Haven, has opened up about how he feels about his role as a sibling and uncle as his sister continues divorce proceedings with her estranged husband Brad Pitt. In a recent interview on the 90who10 podcast, Haven was asked about his "very close" relationship with his sister. (Recall that in 2000, after Jolie won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for "The Woman Who Got in the Way," she famously kissed her brother on the lips and people collectively lost their minds.)
In response, Haven said she has supported her sister and her six nieces and nephews as their personal lives continue to unfold in the "public eye." He said, "It started with protecting her and her children - my nieces and nephews."
Haven continued that he has the ability to "set up his life to be present in any situation."
"I want to be there for them or for her. Whatever situation she is in." For those who don't know, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016; BuzzFeed reported that the actress accused her estranged husband of "physically and verbally" assaulting her and their children during a private jet flight, and ended the relationship days earlier According to BuzzFeed, after an initial investigation, Pitt was cleared of any wrongdoing, but his lawyer said in a 2022 statement that he "has borne all responsibility from day one," Yahoo reported.
Jolie and Pitt have six children together, Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15. 'They're becoming young adults in their early 20s,' Haven said in the same podcast interview. ''I think it's very natural, and I always want to be there. I always want to be there for them."
"I'm not going to be there for them anytime soon.
