Jennifer Aniston is bringing back Rachel Haircut.
Many of the stars at tonight's 81st Golden Globe Awards sported stunning beauty looks, including stylish hair bows, understated peach-colored makeup, and bright red hair. But Jennifer Aniston revived an age-old traditional look that is near and dear to the hearts of many Friends fans around the world: the popular Rachel hairstyle.
Rachel is the layered lob (aka long bob) that Jennifer Aniston wore when she played Rachel Green on Friends, especially in the show's early seasons. Aniston called the haircut "not my best look" and even called her hairstylist at the time "the bane of [her] existence" for creating it, but the style quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, with women everywhere asking their hairstylists for a haircut that looked exactly like Aniston's jagged, feathery style
And now, the style has become a worldwide phenomenon.
And now, given Aniston's public outrage over the look, it seems that perhaps the most unexpected beauty news of the night was the return of the infamous Rachel. Aniston walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes in the latest version of her famous layered look. Even her hair color is similar to what she wore back then, down to the gold highlights and light brown lowlights.
Given that this style took the world by storm in the 1990s, it is tempting to predict (or hope) that this hairstyle will dominate the mid-2020s. Given the other hair trends that dominated the early part of the decade, from the mullet to the lob to the bob, this prediction is not too far off.
