Here's how to get Selena Gomez's 2024 Golden Globe "patent leather" nails
Among all the glitz and glamour of the 2024 Golden Globe Awards red carpet, Selena Gomez's manicure may have been the most glorious. Painted in true black, her nails were truly a heavenly topcoat.
"I wanted to complement her custom Giorgio Armani dress, but give it a little edge with a shiny black manicure," Gomez's nail artist, Tom Bachik, said on Instagram. Bachik, who always chooses an appropriate moniker for his designs, dubbed the style "patent leather."
A true hero, Bachik also shared exactly how this look came about. After shaping her nails, Gomez opted for a short oval style and got to work on the polish and camera-ready aftercare.
"I always have to start with a meticulous manicure using the Tweezerman x Tom Bachik Nail Care Travel Set. Next, I polished Selena's nails with two rich coats of Essie's "Licorice." "No look is complete if the cuticles are dry! I used Essie's "On a Roll" Apricot Cuticle Oil to hydrate the cuticles and skin to perfection."
Once the nails and dress were done, the "Only Murder in the Building" star's makeup was next. Naturally, she applied Rare Beauty by celebrity makeup artist Melissa Murdick to her entire face. To keep up with the nail polish and dress details, the creator chose burgundy eyeliner (Perfect Stroke Long Wear & Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, "Compass").
Her hair was done in a classic Gomez high bun by Marissa Marino.
"Golden Globe nominations! Moments like this!!!!" !" the stylist wrote on Instagram. Did she mean the look or the nomination itself? Both are memorable moments.
