Every time Selena Gomez appears on the red carpet (or in public), I automatically zoom in on her makeup. Assuming she's wearing Rare Beauty, it's a thrill to decipher the exact shade of her blush or eyeshadow and try to DIY the look myself.

So when Gomez told her best friend Taylor Swift her breathtaking secret at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, fans screamed "shade," but I was more interested in her eyeshadow shade. Fortunately, I guessed (or lip-read!) is not necessary, have a breakdown of the entire product. [The red and black Armani dress (and amazingly shiny black nail polish) was complemented with deep, warm colors like pinks, warm metallics, browns, and burgundies. Her makeup was done by Melissa Murdick, who, via her Instagram story, said the actress looked very "cute and happy" at the event.

For specific products, Murdick first created flawless skin with Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation, Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer, and Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in the rose gold shade "Transcend." Then came this color.

To create happy rosy cheeks (and killer cheekbones), the makeup artist applied "Hope" in Nude Mauve in Soft Pinch Liquid Blush and "Happy Sol" in Warm Wish Effortless Bronzer Stick. The Brow Harmony Shape & Fill Duo in "Brown Brow," the Harmony Precision Pencil in "Brown Brow," and the Brow Harmony Flexible Lifting Gel.

Pierre de Resistance's Brown Do Eyes, of course, was ultimately marked by a deep burgundy shade, a far cry from the bright apple red of her gown. To achieve this color, Murdick used the Give Yourself Grace eyeshadow palette and finished with the All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick and Perfect Strokes Long Wear & Waterproof Gel Eyeliner's True Burgundy "Compassion" was used. Finally, a coat of Compassion Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream in nude pink "Kindness."

A little shade never looked so sweet.
