Megan Seastarion dressed as "Black Regina George" at the "Mean Girls" premiere.
ICYMI: "Mean Girls" is back and Megan Seastallion, aka "Black Regina George," makes a cameo appearance. She has called herself "Black Regina George" for years and has a song about dealing with mean girls called "Not Nice." Meghan the Stallion asserted herself as the queen bee at the premiere of Mean Girls, wearing a sheer Y2K-inspired gown.
Megan, who collaborated with Rene Rapp on the song "Not My Fault" for the film, leaned on Early Afz for last night's look. The music artist worked with up-and-coming designer Natalia Birdsley of HouseofJMC to create a one-of-a-kind piece worthy of the rap icon. While we're used to a set of celebrities wearing high-fashion designers on the carpet (or, if you're Kylie Jenner, pulling out vintage from the archives), it's quite refreshing to see a star endorse an up-and-coming artist.
Her custom-made purple gown had a plunging keyhole V-neck embellished with purple and pink beads and stopped just below her navel. The dress's Y2K silhouette was reminiscent of the original "Mean Girls" movie, in which Regina and her friends embraced 2000s fashion trends (remember Regina's pink Murakami Louis Vuitton? She didn't accessorize and let the dress have its moment.
For makeup, Meghan wore her blonde hair (dyed as a tribute to OG Regina George) in a voluminous side part and frosty purple eyeshadow that matched her dress. Nails matched, too: Meghan had a burn book-inspired manicure, with "M-E-A-N" in a burn book font on one hand and "G-I-R-L" on the other. Every part of Meghan's look was well thought out and a tribute to the original film, which we all love.
Los Angeles-based designer Natalia Barzalli dressed Meghan's "Cobra" music video ensemble and her New Year's Eve Nike outfit, and the team at HouseofJMC has worked with the Kardashian family, Rizzo, Golden Globe winner They have also designed custom looks for Davine Joy Randolph. In terms of creating eye-catching red carpet designs, this up-and-coming fashion house is definitely one to watch. Hopefully, we will see more of their work throughout the awards season.
On the carpet, Meghan told "Entertainment Tonight" how much fun it was to rap and collaborate on a song from the film, "I love Renée. I love her and 'Mean Girls,' and it was only natural to have the H-Town hottie here. I've always called myself 'Black Regina George'". Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels, please cast Megan in the sequel to this film ASAP.
