Emma Stone's Givenchy dress is an understated take on see-through transparency
Our obsession with sheer fashion isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There is always something awe-inspiring about a naked dress! Emma Stone's latest film even made a practical case for wearing sheer outside of the red carpet. A day after winning a Golden Globe for "Poor Things" (she also wore a sheer Louis Vuitton to the awards ceremony!) ), she appeared again in a sheer dress. This time, at the Los Angeles premiere of her TV show "The Curse," Stone wore a sheer slip dress, a style hack that doesn't make the see-through style a "skin is in" statement.
Stone arrived at the Beverly Hills Fine Arts Theatre looking exceptionally polished. Her dress of choice was from Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2024 collection. It featured spaghetti straps, a draped black fabric swatch, and a trendy rosette on the left breast. Stone's version, however, looks a little different than it did on the runway. That's because she wore a dark-colored slip under her transparent little black dress, which covered her midriff.
Stone, who has worked with stylist Petra Flannery before, paired the dress with black pumps and sheer black tights. She did not wear any large jewelry, leaving the sophisticated LBD to impress on her own. Her hair was styled in a bun, and her makeup was natural with a slightly glossy coral-toned lip and minimal cat-eye eyeliner.
The rest of the dress was completely sheer on the runway, styled with black hot pant shorts and calf-length sheer socks. Without the slip, the overall sheer slip looked youthful, whereas Stone added sheer tights and a slip underneath, adding a nice personal touch that gives the dress a more mature look.
The naked dress trend has once again proven to be a style to watch on the red carpet this season. In addition to Stone's glittery sheer gown at the Golden Globes, Best Dresser nominee Hunter Schaeffer also wore a nude number, and girlfriend Kylie Jenner, who was cheering her on, followed suit in a vintage boudoir-style lace gown. followed suit.
But sheer is definitely more practical to wear outside of the celebrity set. While I can't imagine sitting at my office desk in a completely see-through dress, Stone's ensemble proves that there are many ways to make sheer more practical and feasible, such as wearing a dark-colored dress underneath like the actress.
