Hye-sung and Gwang-hee will still be together after Season 3 of "Single Hell"?
"Singles Inferno" Season 3 Finale Spoilers Ahead. Like it or not, the biggest question of the Singles Inferno season 3 finale was who Gwang Hee would choose on the final day. In this dating reality show, Korea's answer to Love Island and Bachelor in Paradise, the pro athlete was the most popular man on the island, if not the most popular among the show's fans. (That honor goes to Jin-seok.) Gwang-hee was interested in three different women throughout the season and switched so often that even the show's hosts began referring to him as "If Boy." Even on finale day, no one could predict his decision, but in the end he chose the contestant he described as "wife-worthy": Hesung. Now that they have left the inferno together, viewers are itching to know if Hae-sung and Gwang-hee were still together after returning to the real world.
The two hit it off early in the season and were the first to arrive in Paradise. Gwanghee was 36 years old in Korean age and Hye-sung was 26, so it turned out that there was a 10-year age difference between the two.
Gwanghee has been a professional basketball player in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) since 2020 (hence one of the moderators recognized him). Hye-sung, on the other hand, is a bioinformatics major at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, and has had prestigious internships at Seoul National University and a Silicon Valley startup. [Gwang-hee was worried that she might not be able to compete with Hye-sung's super-bubbly energy. But when the producers announced that Gwang-hee was returning to Inferno with another female contestant, the two were prematurely cut short. He and Hye-sung were separated as part of this season's two Inferno twists, while Gwang-hee went to Paradise with office worker Ha-jung, and as the two hells combined, it became clear that Gwang-hee was going to keep her options open. At times, she seemed to taunt the inexperienced women and even seemed cold-hearted. In episode 4, when asked who he had a thing for, he pointed to Hye-sung, Ha-jung, and model Gyuri and said, "This one, this one, this one." (Gyuri eventually lost her spot to newcomer Minji.) As one of the moderators more kindly pointed out, Gwanghee is totally living in the moment, and on every date, she truly loves whoever the other person is.
By the finale, Gwang-hee is split between Hye-sung, whom she says is the type of woman she would marry, and Min-ji, whom she says is her ideal type. (Coincidentally, Hye-sung and Min-ji are both 26-year-old students at the same university.) Earlier in the episode, it becomes clear that Hajeong has no intention of being chosen by Gwanghee. This is because they had a final conversation in which they admitted that when they first went to Inferno together, they fell for each other, but that Gwang-hee's feelings for her eventually cooled off. (Flashback to their greatest moment, Ha-jung burst into tears at the confessional and called the situation "bittersweet.") In the conversation that followed, Gwang-hee confessed to Hye-sung that she was still on the fence, and Hye-sung, fed up, told her to choose Min-ji. At that point, they had been to Paradise twice. This finally makes Gwang-hee realize that she has hurt all the women with her indecision. That same night, after the last bonfire, Gwang-hee stops Hye-sung and sincerely apologizes, saying that he is sorry for having hurt her and that the time and feelings he shared with her were the most special to him. [Minji, Ha-jung, and Hye-sung chose Gwang-hee. He tells Ha-jung that he had real feelings for her (again). He tells Min-ji that she is his ideal type (again) and apologizes for making her cry so many times throughout the season. He then tells Hye-sung that he thinks she can get along just fine without him. But that was his final deception, because he chose Hye-sung. In his final confession, he says. If I had chosen Min-ji, I would have thought about Hye-sung. But I felt that if I chose Hye-sung, I would think less about Min-ji. So I chose Hye-sung without hesitation." And so they walked off into the sunset, putting an end to the biggest man battle in the history of the single inferno. May it never happen again.
As of the day the finale aired, neither Gwanghee nor Hye-sung have made any statements on social media suggesting that they are dating. Neither of them follow the other on Instagram and neither has mentioned each other on their respective accounts. It's still early days, so watch this space for any updates.
