Januarie Jones "furious" to learn that "Jim" stands for "James"

Januarie Jones has lost her mind after learning that the name "Jim" is short for "James."

The reason I know this is because Jones herself posted a very impassioned rant about this very issue via her story to her 1.1 million Instagram followers.

The star wrote, "I was lying in bed last night thinking about the name Jim for about 30 minutes. It's a weird name. It doesn't stand for anything, it doesn't mean anything. Imagine if Rose's love interest in 'Titanic' had been named Jim.

At this point, you probably have some comments you want to relay to Jones, but let her finish: "I told my family these thoughts this morning, and my mother is furious that Jim is short for James, and I am furious how someone James to Jim." "Very silly."

She further spoke of her meltdown: "I am so ashamed that the word Jimotee was in my brain for a few minutes. I can never get that time back. I'm sorry to all the Jimothies. I'm sorry to my family."

As for "Jimothy," the "Mad Men" star may be glad to know she wasn't the first to make this guess: In an iconic scene in The Office, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, calls the main character, played by John Krasinski, into his calls him into his office and says, "Jim. James' Jimothy," and Jim makes a nodding gesture to indicate that Jimothy is in fact his name (this is a joke, and Michael is very dumb, just in case you've never seen the show). The scene can be seen here.

There is also an English rapper who has the birth name Timothy Gonzalez and goes by the stage name Jimothy Lacoste. As Januarie Jones attests, "You learn something new every day.
