Prince Harry complains that his childhood bedroom is "much smaller and less luxurious" than his brother Prince William's.
Can you feel it in the air?" Today, January 10, marks the one-year anniversary of the release of Prince Harry's shocking memoir, Spare.
As the book's title foreshadows, the bulk of the memoir revolves around the "heir and spare" relationship between Harry and his brother, Prince William. (In case you are not familiar with this dynamic, the two brothers are not equal; William is the No. 1 heir to the throne, and Harry is treated as less important, a "spare" in case anything should happen to William. (This is indeed harmful behavior, but it appears that the Royal Family has learned from its mistakes and has not raised Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis in this manner.)
Harry has a lot to say in "Spares," 416 pages worth, and says he has enough to write a second volume of "Spares," but one of his complaints and grievances is that at Kensington Palace (where the children lived with their mother, Princess Diana), Prince William's bedroom was too large . was that it was too big.
"Half of my room was much smaller and less luxurious," Harry wrote in his book. 'I never asked why. I didn't care. But I didn't have to ask."
Tensions seemed to be constantly brewing between the brothers, and Harry was aware of countless preferential treatment for William. When Harry joined William at Eton College (a prestigious boarding school for boys educating boys between the ages of 13 and 18), he wrote that William was not comfortable with his presence there. He (William) explained that for the past two years, Eton had been his sanctuary. He (William) explained that for the past two years, Eton had been his sanctuary. He had carved out a life for himself and did not want to give it up. At least at Eton, he would have had a bedroom of the same size."
Perhaps not shockingly, according to "OK," William was hurt by the "spare." One friend said, "Harry sold out his family to the media for millions of dollars, and William can't forgive that breach of trust."
But William would only be hurt if there was love there. And despite the brother-brother feud (as anyone would), the two were once close and had some good times together. 'I think it was because of their close bond that they were hurt by the betrayal. 'They were the only ones who actually knew what each other had been through. How would you feel if your best friend decided to reveal all your personal secrets to the newspaper?
