Taraji P. Henson joins the parade of short bobs
Scrolling through the photos from last night's Governors Awards ceremony, there is no shortage of short, blunt bobs. If you need a list, I'll gladly provide it: the likes of America Ferrera, Carey Mulligan, Kaylee Spaney, and Marlee Matlin rock this style.
My favorite is Taraji P. Henson's hairstyle. This time she went full vintage and the new cut ended just at the jawline. Created by celebrity hairstylist Tim Wallace, the style is chic and sophisticated, deeply parted to the side and pulled back behind one ear, with the ends curving toward the actress' face.
Wallace and Henson had previously worked on a bob together at the Creative Arts Emmys a few days earlier, but the January 9 take was entirely new territory. Whereas the Emmy look was full of body and waves, the Governors Awards brought sharp lines and slight volume.
"Taraji, time, bob = perfection," commented brow genius Damon Roberts on Wallace's Instagram.
Other aspects of Henson's look included an absolutely wild golden stiletto manicure created by Temeka Jackson (seriously, I recommend scrolling through her Instagram to see these nails in all their glory) and Saisha Beecham included sultry makeup. Sharp nails and sharp brow edges were expertly coordinated with the hairstyles, a first for an Oscar contender, and not a last.
"I'm a total #hairchameleon - I get bored if I don't switch! I love trying new styles, colors, products, everything. My all-time favorite trend is healthy hair," Henson previously told Marie Claire exclusively. If you learn to take good care of your scalp, your hair will love you for it. The style I'm into right now is a sleek, long bob ...... But that could change if you ask me again tomorrow."
Really, what might tomorrow bring for the actress of The Color Purple? It's awards season, so anything can happen.
