Princess Kate's new pantsuit obsession is "fit for a future queen," says stylist
Princess Kate's love of pantsuits is nothing new, but it certainly seems to have picked up steam in recent weeks, as she wore the business casual staple seven times in a row through last Tuesday.
Obviously, because she is Princess Kate, royal commentators and fashion experts have been going right back and forth on the royal family's style choices.
For stylist Miranda Holder, for example, Kate's switch to an almost pantsuit-only regime symbolizes her increasingly important role in the royal family. [For stylist Miranda Holder, for example, Kate's switch to an almost pantsuit-only regime symbolizes the increasingly important role she has come to play in the Royal Family. Overall, it's a shift from pretty, floaty, and playful to a more sophisticated, regal, and refined wardrobe befitting a future queen," says Holder, OK!
Dressing as a young, female, and senior royal is not always easy, but for Kate it is, many sources of inspiration, not to mention a personal stylist.
"Kate surrounds herself with influential people. Princess Diana, the royal fashion superstar, has a catalog of iconic outfits."
For Holder, we can expect further style evolution from Kate as she continues to climb the royal ladder.
"Her clothing choices will become even more steeped in symbolism," experts contend. Perhaps then we will see Kate return to a slightly softer silhouette, reintroduce the skirt in place of the more businesslike pantsuit, and reinforce William's position as king and leader of the country."
Bethan Holt, fashion director of The Daily Telegraph, agrees that Kate's evolving fashion choices are a clear message from the princess.
"She is transforming before our eyes," Holt said previously." She may not be able to tell us, "Look, my life is totally different now, me and my husband are one step closer to the biggest job of his life," but she is saying it through her fashion choices. Catherine, clearly, clearly.
