Rachel Zegler defends Taylor Swift for misogynistic remarks amid Travis Kells dating rumors
Taylor Swift and Rachel Zegler are both women in the public eye, which unfortunately means they have the ominous commonality of being on the receiving end of misogynistic remarks online and in real life.
Amid rumors of a romance between Swift and NFL pro Travis Kelce, the singer finds herself at the center of discourse in circles where she would not normally be.
In one video, Dan Katz of Chicago's Barstool Sports discussed what it would take to "believe" Swift and Kelce's relationship.
Katz, who shared the video on Twitter, wrote, "If Taylor Swift is going to occupy our Sunday (among other things) I need to see the sex tape. This is what I demand."
Encouragingly, many of the comments on Katz's post chastised him for saying what they felt was bizarre and unfair.
Actress Rachel Zegler, who was widely attacked online after her own remarks about Snow White, quoted and tweeted Katz's post in defense of Swift, saying, "It's not news that the media is particularly (and unfairly) cruel to Taylor Swift though, the way men feel entitled to talk about women, their bodies, and their sex lives needs to be seriously evaluated
," he wrote. And it is not necessarily only men who speak this way to us.
"Leave Taylor Swift alone!"
Zegler added, "You see a lot of 'I'm kidding,' but you have to understand that since the beginning of time, 'I can't take a joke' has been synonymous with 'let me say terrible things about women without suffering consequences.'"
