Prince Charles is reportedly "in the limelight" and "very jealous" of Prince William and Princess Catherine.
Imagine, after nearly 74 years of what is probably the longest apprenticeship in modern history, you have ascended the throne. Prince Charles (and Queen Camilla), since his accession to the throne on September 8, 2022 (after, let's be honest, many of us didn't know if it would happen or not), has, like it or not, been strongly respected and, whether we like it or not, strongly respected, even though he has been generally well received from all points of view, more or less... and has a record of She is sandwiched between her accomplished mother, Queen Elizabeth (who served as monarch for 70 years), her popular son, Prince William, and Prince William's even more popular and likely wife, Princess Catherine.
And according to the Daily Express, Prince Charles is aware of his son and daughter-in-law's popularity and is "very jealous" of what royal writer and Daily Beast columnist Clive Irving calls their "limelight." But royal experts said that all parties had reached a compromise, although the uncomfortable reality remains that, as the Daily Express put it, "the king-in-waiting is stealing some of the thunder of the incumbent. [Charles has always been very jealous of others stealing his limelight because he is so jealous of them. He has now made an arrangement that William and Kate will have a set percentage of the limelight." The exact percentages are still unknown, but Irving said, "It's about 40% (of William and Katherine) and he keeps 60%. That seems to be the practical arrangement."
However, according to the Daily Express, polls suggest that William and Catherine should be in the limelight as much as possible. Interestingly, Catherine's popularity now trails that of William. William was first, Catherine third, and Princess Anne second.
