Princess Catherine's Absence from Earthshot Awards Makes Prince William "Remorseful," Royal Expert Says

The Princess of Wales, whose husband Prince William attended the Earthshot Prize ceremony in London in 2021 and the second ceremony in Boston in 2022, will reportedly not attend the third ceremony in Singapore next month. Her eldest son, Prince George, is preparing to take his entrance exams (to enter Eton?), and she will not be able to attend the third ceremony in Singapore.

Few would argue that this is the wrong decision (perhaps including William), but that does not mean that Kate's call will not cause the Prince of Wales to "feel remorse," royal expert Jenny Bond told the Mirror.

"I cheered out loud when I learned that Princess Catherine had chosen to stay home with George," said Bond, a former royal correspondent for the BBC. 'It was absolutely the right decision. Children need parents, and children grow up quickly. There will be more Earthshots events and prizes. But George has his own big event this year.

It really illustrates the shift in royal parenting, where duty is important, but nothing takes precedence over children. And while William may be frustrated by the conflicting dates, he will of course support his wife's decision: "Regarding George's exams, Bond said, "It is quite right that his mother should help him with his exams. William is probably scratching his head about George's exams overlapping with his schedule, but he would fully support Lady Catherine staying home for their son."

George and his parents were seen touring Eton in June. Boys are admitted to Eton at age 13 (three years ahead for George), so if accepted, George would not start at Eton until 2026. Eton, where Princes William and Harry attended, is located near Windsor Castle and Adelaide Cottage, where five members of the Welsh family currently live.

And while William will not be present for George's exams, George (and his two other children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) will not be far from his mind as he continues his Earthshot activities. William previously told the BBC that he is thinking about the next generation when it comes to his decision to save the planet with his Earthshot Award work. 'If we're not careful, we're taking away from our children's future what we're doing now,' he said. 'I don't think that's fair. So I'm trying to use what little influence and visibility I have to shine a spotlight on great people doing great things.

By the way, Kate still has a chance to attend the Earthshot Awards Awards.
