Be prepared to "shake things up" if Prince William becomes king, says former royal butler
It may be far in the future, but one day Prince William will be King. And when that happens, OK reports that William will "shake things up," as he already has thanks to his example.
Particularly in the last 18 months, William (and Catherine) have begun to adopt what was formerly known as the "Cambridge Way" (when the couple were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) and now the "Welsh Way" (since the couple became the Prince and Princess of Wales in September 2022) They are. (The way they raised their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, is perhaps the most glaring example of this: Princess Catherine missed William's third Earthshot Prize ceremony next month in favor of George's exams.) William has not yet received his investiture as Prince of Wales, and may never do so. The recent decision by William and Queen Catherine to hire a CEO will usurp the entire core of the royal court.
Paul Burrell, a former royal butler, said on behalf of Slingo that Prince Charles and Queen Camilla "will come to rely more and more on William and Kate as time goes on" before they become king and queen. He will "represent the King and Queen on more international tours." Burrell said Charles is building "a bridge between his mother's monarchy and his monarchy" (Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for more than 70 years, making her the longest reigning monarch in Britain). Burrell also said that Charles is simultaneously "building a bridge to the monarchy of William and Kate."
"Over the years, when the king and queen don't want them to, they will get more attention and more to do," Burrell said. 'It's a natural progression and a learning curve for William and Kate to take the reins of the monarchy before they become king and queen. They are apprentices to the office who need to learn how to deal with these things when they happen."
At 73, Prince Charles is the oldest monarch ever to ascend the British throne, and according to OK, "If he were to live as long as his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, his reign would barely approach the 24-year mark, meaning he would not celebrate any jubilees or milestones It would be. This also means that the Prince and Princess of Wales would be in their 60s by the time they become King and Queen. (Unlike Prince Charles (and Prince Camilla), Williama and Princess Catherine have no major scandals. Much of the couple's appeal, Burrell says, lies in Princess Catherine's personality, aura, and charm.
"Kate is in an incredible position. Because if Kate decides she doesn't want to be involved in the marriage anymore, I think the royal family would fall apart."
Burrell also predicted that the future King William V, when it was his turn to reign, would "shake things up" and do his best to "get to the heart of (the monarchy)" as a "radical thinker."
"The monarchy of the king is very civil service top-heavy," Burrell said. 'It's very administrative. I think William will cut it down and cut everything."
