Emily Rutakowski's lips take us back to the 00s
As glossy lips continue their stunning comeback, we seem to be moving from a slight sheen (would 2022 have been nothing if not the year of lip oil?) to full frost. Sure, it's still early fall, but ...... Winter is officially here and we may have Emily Rutakowski to thank for it.
In an Instagram Story posted on Monday, October 9, the "High-Low" podcast host showed off a new makeup look that perfectly blends a fall color palette with a frosty, wintery lip that was all the rage in the early 21st century. Her lips were layered with an icy brown-beige gloss over a caramel-colored lipstick. Lip liner was likely included as well, given that Ratakowski's already plump pout looked perfectly sized.
While her lip was the star of the show for me, the rest of the look was amazing. Minimally made-up with her freckles showing through, the 32-year-old's brown eyes shone with a simple cat eye and a little mascara. A brown knit tank (there's a theme here!) and a brownish-red jacket with a fur collar, her outfit was adorned with chunky gold hoop earrings.
Frosted lips were popularized by Naomi Campbell and Pamela Anderson in the 90s and 20s. Previously, simple, dry lipsticks (baby pink, red, brown, or whatever you prefer!) ), but modern makeup technology has introduced more moisturizing products that allow you to achieve the "beauty is a pain" look without the hassle.
The author of My Body debuted this look after returning from Paris Fashion Week, where minimalist French girl beauties reigned supreme. Throughout her trip, which was uploaded to social media, her lips remained pouty and plump, as if primed with a Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm she bought at the pharmacy.
