Prince George celebrated a milestone with his father Prince William yesterday in France, attending his first international sporting event.
For the Prince and Princess of Wales, sports are a way to bond with their three children, and William made a surprise visit to Marseille with their oldest son, Prince George, to watch Wales play in the Rugby World Cup. William is a patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and according to The Independent, yesterday's match was important because it was "George's first time abroad to watch an international rugby match in person."
"The prince wore a navy suit and red tie matching his father's and seemed to express his patriotism for the Welsh side," the Independent reported. William and George watched the match together in the Presidential Box, which was very special for George. George was smiling from ear to ear as he watched the game. [Kate is a patron of the English Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League. Last February, George stood between his parents while they watched England play Wales in the Six Nations. When asked at Twickenham if he was "Team England or Team Wales," George shrugged his shoulders and smiled at William, who laughed and said, "It's quite the fad in this house," pointing to Kate, "She's quite into it. I try not to get involved."
George was not around Kate's mom for today's game, so perhaps the England vs. Wales battle has made up his mind after all. Unfortunately, Wales could not pull off a victory yesterday, losing 29-17 to Argentina.
