Jennifer Lopez's "Cherry Mocha Manicure" will inspire your next nail look
If spring and summer are pedicures, fall and winter are manicures. What better way to accessorize a chunky sweater than with corresponding nail art? "As beauty editor Samantha Hollender reported last month, the biggest nail trends for fall 2023 don't require intricate designs or fancy stone embellishments. Instead, our focus is on the exact opposite: short, simple, elegant, understated nails. And while some celebrities are still going all out, Jennifer Lopez has nailed a more sober aesthetic.
Perfectly on-trend (as always), celebrity manicurist Tom Bacic showed off his latest work with J.Lo in an Instagram post on Monday, October 16. In this photo, the Haslers actress models her well-groomed hands. Her square nails are cut short and painted a deep, vampy, glossy shade of cherry red. Naturally, her green diamond engagement ring also made an appearance. If I may say so myself, the ring's sparkle matched the luster of her nails perfectly.
Bacik captioned the photo "Cherry Mocha Mani" and noted that she used Essie nail polish "Bordeaux" (which the brand describes as a deep burgundy) to achieve this look.
"The classic shades of the 90s are back," Rita Remark, Essie's global lead educator, previously told Marie Claire."
"Deep, vampy nails, which are neither black nor red, perfectly complement the cool, moody weather.
A few days earlier, Lopez was spotted at a Schiaparelli event sporting an understated, natural manicure that appeared to be a ballet shoe-style pink nude. Simple solids seem to have staying power for the actress this season.
No matter which shade of polish is calling your name, we believe you can recreate Lopez's fall looks when armed with the right file, polish, and shiny topcoat-just some of our editor-approved shades to shop below. The only thing missing: the 'On the Floor' singer's ring. (Seriously, take another look at this photo, it's fabulous)
