Prince William is "totally offended" by Princess Diana's portrayal in The Crown.

For Prince William and Prince Harry, brotherly love still seems a long way off. They are "fed up" with Prince William's portrayal of his mother, Princess Diana, in the final season of "The Crown," which will be released next month. William is said to be particularly upset that Diana will be portrayed as a ghost in the current season of the series, which will be distributed on Netflix. (According to the Mirror, Diana's ghost is said to have brought the late Queen Elizabeth to tears in one episode.) Harry, of course, has a multimillion-dollar contract with the company, which extends beyond 2020.

"William is angry about a lot of things about Harry," a friend of William's told The Daily Beast. 'His decision to work with Netflix, which has ruthlessly exploited the family, is one of them. It is incredibly hurtful that his mother is being exploited over and over again by Netflix in such a despicable way. He won't watch it, but he will be completely offended."

A friend of the late queen told the publication, "Thank God she [the late queen] will never even hear of this."

It is unclear which (if any) members of the royal family have actually seen The Crown, but it is certain that they all know of it. According to Anas Sarwar, former leader of the Scottish Labour Party, King Charles made a quip about the show when he attended a multi-faith event before the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 2021, where a group of MSPs were standing and he came over and said, "Hello, gentlemen. Nice to meet you," and I said, "I'm not the kind of person portrayed on Netflix." I thought that was a really interesting way to express myself."

Harry confessed to watching the show and said in an interview with James Corden that it is more accurate than people think. 'They don't pretend it's news,' he said. 'It's fiction, but it's loosely based on fact. 'It's not strictly accurate, of course, but it loosely gives you a rough idea of the lifestyle, the pressure to put duty and service above family and everything else, and what comes out of that.'

While Harry and Meghan have no direct connection to the show, their close relationship with Netflix has influenced how "The Crown," which aired several years before the two signed on with the streaming giant, has been received. A television executive told The Daily Beast, "Royal content is huge for them [Netflix], and they probably would have signed Harry and Meghan up for the documentary anyway" (of course, the platform released last December (I'm referring to the six-part documentary Harry & Meghan, which was released on the same platform last December). But 'The Crown' is one of their biggest shows, and signing Harry and Meghan certainly had a halo effect on its credibility."

The sixth and final season of The Crown will be released in two parts for the first time: the first of four episodes will air on November 16 and the second on December 14.
