Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Exit Reportedly Had 'Major Impact' on Prince William, Princess Kate and Their Marriage

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as active members of the royal family and moved to the United States in January 2020, their lives were transformed, but Harry and Meghan were not alone in feeling the upheaval. The loss of two working royals also affected the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their abdication had a "major impact" on William and Kate's marriage, according to the Mirror.

According to one source, William and Kate are resentful because they were "forced to pick up jobs they dropped when they moved to the US." The extra workload given to them is enormous." William and Kate have taken on "even more responsibilities" in the three and a half years since stepping down, which they said has "had a huge impact on their marriage and family life."

Add to that projects like Netflix's Harry & Meghan and Harry's memoir Spare, and William and Kate are feeling the strain: "Sometimes it feels like we've both cracked under this relentless pressure. They say they "feel constantly torn in separate directions by having to spend less time at home together and more time apart, and insist that none of this would have happened if Harry and Meghan hadn't abdicated their royal duties."

The deaths of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in the past two years, and the fact that Harry, Meghan, and Prince Andrew no longer serve as senior royals, have undoubtedly fulfilled King Charles' long-held wish for a streamlined monarchy. The three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are on half-term leave from Lambrook School, and William and Kate took time off to spend quality time with them.
