Even those with the most passive knowledge possible about Britney Spears know that she has spent most of her adult life in a cage of fame, paparazzi, or infamous years of conservatorship. [and even those with the most passive knowledge of psychology possible know that when people who have not been free for a long time taste freedom, they take it and run with it full force.

That seems to be exactly what has happened in the case of Spears and the nude photos she often takes and posts on social media. (Spears addresses this head-on in an excerpt from her forthcoming memoir, The Woman in Me: "I know a lot of people don't understand why I like to take pictures of myself naked or in a new dress. But if they had been photographed thousands of times by others, poked and posed for others' approval, I think they would understand that I take pleasure in posing and photographing myself in ways that I find sexy."

Self-expression is a beautiful gift, and I am glad that Spears is finally able to enjoy it. Instead of criticizing her, let's allow her to fully express herself, which she has been waiting for so long to do. Let's give her the power to be herself, Britney.
