Jada Pinkett Smith Says She Was Seen as 'Adulteress' After Slap at Oscars

At the 2022 Oscars, Jada Pinkett Smith did not make any insensitive jokes or physically assault anyone, but some people seemed to blame her for Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on stage.

Locke made a joke comparing Jada's hairstyle to that of G.I. Jane, which Will did not take kindly to. So even though Jada was technically involved in the case, in the immortal words of Liam Payne, she "did nothing" - but that was not the view of some people.

"It was ridiculous in every way," Jada told People of some people's opinion that she was responsible for the slap.

"But at the same time I understood. Given the false narrative that I had betrayed Will or that I was some kind of adulterer, Will had never done that before."

"And when you look at human nature ... . when you look at the breadcrumbs, I think people need something to blame."

Sadly, Jada was not shocked by this development.

"People who didn't know what was going on behind the scenes certainly weren't surprised that I got blamed. But then I understood that that's just the way people are."

As Will and Jada work to repair their marriage (which they had no idea was broken until just a few weeks ago), there is much talk about human error.

Commenting on this recently, Jada said, "We are in a deep healing space right now." [and] really focused on healing our relationship. We are working really hard on bringing our relationship back into a life partnership."

She continued, "He can't be this perfect idealized husband. I have to be able to accept him as the person he is."

"He must accept me as a person as I am. And we must love each other there."
