Fo sis, fo sis": Michelle Williams narrates Britney Spears' memoir.
As Marie Claire reported earlier this month, Britney Spears has turned over the narration of the audiobook of her memoir The Woman in Me to five-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams. 'The book was a labor of love and all the emotions that came with it,' Spears said. 'Reliving it all was exciting, heartbreaking, and moving, to say the least. For those reasons, I only read a small portion of the audiobook. I am very grateful to the wonderful Michelle Williams for reading the rest."
There is no doubt how the Williams side feels about Spears and her story: "I'm on Britney's side."
The book and accompanying audiobook were released yesterday, with particular attention paid to Williams' impersonation of Spears' ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and one clip from when the two were dating in the early 2000s.
In the clip, Williams reads a quote Spears wrote: His band *NSYNC was called "so pimp" at the time. 'They were white boys, but they loved hip-hop. To me, that's what separated them from the Backstreet Boys. The Backstreet Boys seemed to me to consciously position themselves as a white group. *NSYNC was hanging out with black artists. One day J and I were in NYC and went to a part of town we had never been to before. Walking our way was a guy with a huge medallion, flanked by two huge security guards, and J got all excited and said out loud, "Hey, what's going on? Ginuwine, what's up, my homey? After Ginuwine walked away, Felicia [Culotta] imitated J and said, 'Oh yeah, for shiz, for shiz, Ginuwine,' and J wasn't even embarrassed."
Williams' Timberlake impersonation was, how shall we say, so epic that the clip has been viewed over 9 million times on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), according to Entertainment Tonight. Additionally, the excerpt was quoted and replied to by thousands of users. One fan said: 'Michelle has won an Oscar, a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and everything in between.'
Another fan's response summed up the instantly classic moment nicely: five-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams saying "fo' shiz, fo' shiz, what's up homie?" is art," while another tweeted it best Perhaps the best way to put it: it's hard to believe that Michelle Williams is living in a reality where she says "fo' shiz."
The audiobook of "Woman in Me" is available now.
