Blake Lively, master of monochrome in Shades of Blue
Blake Lively, everyone's favorite fashion goddess, aka Selina Van der Woodsen, aka Mrs. Reynolds, aka the Queen of the Red Carpet, showed us how to master monochrome this week. Visiting New York City with her husband Ryan Reynolds, Lively was dressed in an all-blue outfit that combined about 50 shades of blue. Deep navy, bright cobalt, heather cornflower, and washed out denim were all worn in a stunning high-low street style.
Let's start with the bottoms. Lively wore this season's silhouette, a light-washed denim pant in a slightly baggy, boyfriend fit. This cut is loose and easy to wear for fall activities. She paired these pants with a heathered cornflower blue hoodie with a white drawstring cord at the neckline. To stay warm on her walks with her husband, she threw on a traditional navy blue oversized wool topcoat. Speaking of Reynolds, he clearly got the monochrome memo, too: the Deadpool actor lined up with Lively in an all-gray outfit: slate-colored beanie, smoke-colored shacket, dark front pleated pants, and sheer sneakers.
She wore brown chunky loafers and turtle aviator sunglasses, but her handbag stayed true to blue. Rounding out the look was a navy blue Chanel crossbody bag with woven gold hardware.
