While tensions between Prince Charles and Prince William continue, Prince Harry enjoys a close relationship with this family
Unfortunately, Prince Harry's relationship with many of his family members remains strained, but the Mirror reports that Prince Harry is becoming increasingly close to Doria Ragland, mother of his wife Meghan Markle.
Not only are Harry and Doria "growing stronger," but Harry and Meghan (and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet) now live in California, Meghan's birthplace, and Doria calls it home, so they see each other frequently, the magazine reports. Harry's relationship with his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William remains strained (and his mother Princess Diana tragically died in a car accident in 1997 when Harry was 12), but "Harry is said to be enjoying a close relationship with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland," the The Mirror writes. According to Hello, the two spend summer vacations and anniversaries together, and one expert suggests that Doria "will play a big role in creating a special Christmas" for her two grandchildren this year.
When Harry and Doria first met, she said of him (from the Mirror) He was really nice. He seemed really happy to be with me. It was like he was the one. Harry said of Doria, "Her mother is wonderful."
Doria was with Harry and Meghan when the three were involved in a car chase after leaving an awards ceremony in New York this past May; the Mirror reported that Doria was particularly "terrified" by the ordeal. Harry and Meghan said the chase could have been deadly and "involved six black cars driven recklessly by unidentified people, endangering the convoy and those around them," the magazine wrote. [In 2021, after Lilibet's birth, Doria reportedly moved in with Harry and Meghan's Montecito home and was "overjoyed" at the birth of their granddaughter. When Archie was born in 2019, when Harry and Meghan were still living in England, Doria flew to London to witness his arrival.
Doria, who is usually extremely private, was featured in the fourth episode of Harry & Meghan, a documentary about the couple available on Netflix. When discussing the darkest period in Meghan's life, she was understandably emotional, and sadly wiped away tears when she said she "couldn't protect" their only son. 'I remember Princess Meghan telling me she wanted to take her own life. 'I knew it was the wrong thing to do. The vultures were always gnawing at her and ripping at her spirit.
Doria is the anchor as Harry and Meghan navigate life in California. One source said, "Doria is said to enjoy a close relationship with Harry and remains a pillar of support for Meghan." As for Harry and Charles' relationship, "It is not sustainable that the King, a symbol of national unity, is not on good terms with his son and has not been photographed with him in years. Ultimately, Charles needs to address this issue not only personally, but also strategically." Charles reportedly wants an apology from Harry, but that is not the case. I don't think [Charles] expects that. I know the Windsors are stubborn and Harry is no exception. The quid pro quo is whether Harry can accept that he too will not receive an apology."
The new "will-they-or-won't-they" question is whether Harry and Meghan (and potentially Archie and Lili) will attend the King's 75th birthday celebration, which will take place roughly two weeks before and after Prince Charles' big day on November 14 That is. As always, we remain hopeful.
