James Middleton's eldest son continues an interesting tradition of the Middleton and Royal families.

James Middleton, brother of the Crown Princess of England, and his wife Alizee became first-time parents a few weeks ago with the birth of their son Inigo.

This trend has been true for Kate, who was the first to give birth to Prince George; Pippa Middleton Matthews, who gave birth to her son Arthur before welcoming two girls; and now James. In the royal family, William was not the only one to give birth to a son first: so did Queen Elizabeth (Prince Charles), as did Prince Charles himself (William) and Princess Anne (who gave birth to son Peter Phillips before daughter Zara). There are exceptions, of course (Prince Edward had a daughter first, and Prince Andrew had two girls), but in most cases the trend has persisted: boys first.

After announcing Alizee's pregnancy in July, James acknowledged Inigo's birth yesterday: "He is only a few weeks into our lives, but they were the most special of my life to know our beautiful boy." in a post to Instagram. No matter how prepared I thought I was, ...... I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of meeting Inigo for the first time and my love for my sweet Alizee, who is now three," adding, "We have adjusted to our new life as parents."

According to People, the name Inigo is of Spanish/Basque origin and means "fiery." In terms of pop culture, Inigo Montoya, played by Mandy Patinkin in the 1987 film The Princess Bride, said, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. (As a side note, 1987 was the year "The Princess Bride" was released and also the year James was born.)
