Matthew Perry of "Friends" Dies at 54
Matthew Perry, one of the six main cast members of the hit TV show "Friends," has died, TMZ reported. He was 54 years old.The media outlet reported that the actor was found at his L.A.-area home on Saturday, apparently drowned. According to media sources, paramedics responded to the home after receiving a report of cardiac arrest and found him in the home's Jacuzzi. No drugs were found at the scene and no criminal activity was involved.
He is best known for his role as Chandler Bing in "Friends," which ran for 10 seasons and 234 episodes, all of which featured Perry. Perry has also appeared in numerous other television shows, from "Growing Pains" and "Silver Spoons" to "Beverly Hills 90210," "Ally McBeal," "The West Wing," "Scrubs. She has also appeared in films such as Fools Rush In, The Whole Nine Yards, and 17 Again. Perry had not acted for the past six years, since 2017.
Perry suffered severely from addiction to drugs and alcohol, particularly painkillers. He struggled with his addiction to Vicodin, which he detailed in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. Perry had been sober since May 2021.
