Matthew Perry Says He Was Once "Grateful" to Jennifer Aniston for Checking Him Out After 'Friends' Ended

Perry, who was best known and loved for his role as Chandler Bing on the classic sitcom "Friends," is mourned by the show's co-stars and creators, with the show's official Instagram account saying, "We are devastated to hear of Matthew Perry's passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans."

The show's official Instagram account also stated, "Our hearts go out to his family, loved ones, and fans.

The other five "Friends" refrained from posting personal tributes to the actor, but it is clear that they would have been devastated inside by the awful news of his passing.

Perry apparently did not keep in very close contact with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, who told Diane Sawyer that he knew Perry had a decades-long struggle with addiction, and after the show ended He once told her that Aniston always checked in on him after the show, knowing that Perry had been struggling with addiction for decades.

"She was the one who reached out to me the most," the actor told Sawyer in 2022 (via People). 'I'm really grateful to her.'

In his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry details his struggles with prescription and non-prescription drugs and alcohol.

In 2021, Perry brilliantly described the everlasting bond he and his co-stars developed in a "Friends" reunion special.

"The best way I can describe it is that after the show was over, at a party or any kind of social occasion, if either of us ran into each other, that was it. That was the end of that night. You sit with that person all night and that's it," he said (via People).

"I apologized to the people I was with, but they had to understand that they had met someone special to me, and I was going to talk to that person all night. That was the way it worked out."
