Charlie Puth leads the crowd in a rousing rendition of "I'll Be There for You" at the Matthew Perry memorial concert.
Charlie Puth performed a wonderful tribute to Matthew Perry at a recent concert in Melbourne, Australia.
In a clip shared on TikTok, the "We Don't Talk Anymore" singer could be seen performing Rembrandt's "I'll Be There for You," the theme song from Friends.
Although Puth left the bulk of the singing to the concert audience, he delivered several lines throughout, turning the upbeat song into a mellow ballad.
Puth then transitioned into Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," which featured Puth.
"It was a really, really sad moment when a friend of mine who got me through a lot of tough times suddenly passed away," he said on his "Bizarre Life" podcast (via J-14). 'I've never lost someone like this before.'
In the comments section of the TikTok video, people expressed how sad Perry's death was and how beautiful Puth's tribute was.
"Hard to hear the news of Matthew Perrys passing. Beautiful tribute. May he be remembered for his smile and the smiles he brought to the world," someone wrote.
"What the world mourns. Thank you for your laughter and for being our friend, Chandler Bing. Rest in peace." Another said.
Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles-area home on Saturday. He was 54 years old.
