Jamie Lynn Spears tears into sister Britney in emotional interview

Britney Spears has long had drama in her family. Especially with her parents, Jamie and Lynn Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. But that seems to be changing, as Britney recently reconciled with her mother and apparently with her sister as well (according to Variety, Britney wrote on Instagram, "It was great to visit my sister on set last week ! I missed you all so much! Loyal girls stay at home, but it's so nice to visit family."

Jamie Lynn is doing press for Zoey 102, the sequel film to the hit Nickelodeon sitcom Zoey 101. While Britney is preparing to release her memoir in October, it was Jamie Lynn's January 2022 confessional book, Things I Should Have Said, that took the sisters' feud to a deeper level. Variety wrote, "At the time, Britney and her fans accused Jamie Lynn of trying to make a quick buck off the pop princess's troubled life." Six months later, Britney did not invite Jamie Lynn to her wedding."

Interviewed by Mark Malkin, Jamie Lynn became emotional when talking about her family: "I have nothing but absolute love for each and every one of them.

"If I've learned anything from the last year, it's that I've been very open and sometimes I feel like I have to defend myself. Because those conversations are personal. All I can focus on now is my daughters [daughters Maddie and Ivey], my husband, and the work I'm doing."

"It makes me sad," Jamie Lynn said of last year and the family drama surrounding it. 'I don't want my daughter to feel that way. So I never want my children, especially my oldest daughter, to feel that way. My strength comes from my love for my children and my desire to not give in to anything but the real truth that I know. It was hard, but in the end, look at me now."

Jamie Lynn added that she tells her oldest daughter, Maddie, 15, to be proud when she talks to her about Aunt Britney and what Maddie might be hearing about her: "Be proud. Look at what your family has done and accomplished. We come from a small town and now everyone is fascinated by the good, especially the bad. But look at the example of a strong woman you have. You have something to be proud of, and you should be proud of it. Kids being kids, I'm sure they do meaner things to each other in high school."

So will Jamie Lynn ever perform with Britney in the future? She said, "Right now I'm focused on myself and what I'm doing."

Zoe 102 hits Paramount+ on July 27.
