Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte once stopped by a pub in South London.

Imagine: you're in a pub, having a drink and a chat, when along comes ...... Princess Wales and Princess Charlotte? Huh? A dream? No, it really is them. And what this mother-daughter duo needed was something surprisingly relatable, reports the Daily Express.

"Princess Charlotte once surprised pub-goers during a very unexpected royal visit," the magazine reported.

"The young royal walked into the south London pub with her mother, Princess Kate, and made a very intimate request.

It's a story worth repeating, even though it happened a few years ago: back in 2018, the two were traveling around London in a black Range Rover when Charlotte, who would have been about 3 at the time, told her mom she had to go to the bathroom." The Daily Express reported that "Mom Kate, like many parents before her, then pulled up in front of The Phoenix pub in Stockwell, held hands with her daughter, went inside, and asked if she could use the facilities." Customers and staff alike were shocked at how normal they were."

The "Daily Express" reported that "the staff was shocked at how normal they were.

Maggie McKinney, a regular patron of the pub, said, "I was sitting in my usual chair and looked up to see Kate Middleton, or the Duchess of Cambridge (her title at the time) and her daughter Princess Charlotte. A little kid came trotting in with his mom, went to the bathroom, and then trotted out. We were probably in the pub for less than 10 minutes. They were both very nice and totally normal. Princess Kate was holding her daughter's hand. Princess Charlotte was a normal girl."

And maybe so, but I don't think many other little girls would have had a plainclothes female detective from the Royal Protective Service come into the pub to check the bathroom before Kate and Charlotte arrived.

"A plainclothes female officer came in first and checked the toilets," another pub patron said of the unexpected royal visit.

"Then the Duchess of Cambridge came in holding Princess Charlotte's hand. Then the Duchess of Cambridge walked in holding Princess Charlotte's hand. While Princess Charlotte and Princess Kate went to the bathroom, the policewoman sat by the bar."

Royalty or not, "it just goes to show that the royal family is just like any other family," another pub-goer told the Daily Express. 'If the kids need to go to the toilet, they have to go!' .
