Royal children are generally sent to boarding schools when they reach a certain age (which is almost expected at this stage).

For now, Prince George (age 9), Princess Charlotte (age 8), and Prince Louis (age 5) are younger than they will be when they go to boarding school and attend a day school in Rumluk, near Windsor, but it is very possible that they will become boarding students in the next few years.

Exhibit A: Prince George was recently seen with his parents touring his father's alma mater, Eton College. Eton is a stone's throw from Adelaide Cottage, the Welsh couple's current home, but this prestigious school actually requires boarding, so this may be the plan once George turns 13 (the minimum age for admission).

However, according to royal commentator Jenny Bond, it would be a bit embarrassing for young children to be boarded, given the style of parenting that the Dauphin and his wife have long favored for their children.

"The children's choice of school will tell us a lot about William and Catherine. So far, they have been very hands-on parents and I personally think it would be sad to see them send their children off to boarding school," Bond said OK!

"I applaud their decision to send them to a day school near their home. But I think both William and Princess Catherine were happy at boarding school. That's what they know, and perhaps they want to pass this experience on to their children."

William attended Eton and Kate was a student at Marlborough College in Wiltshire.

Bond added, "I imagine it would be all or nothing, i.e., all three would go to school or none of them would. In other words, all three would either go to school or none would."

Of course, it is the family that makes the decision, and we can only wait and see where they land.
