Ryan Gosling Says He "Didn't Want to Have Kids" Without Eva Mendes

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes keep their home life relatively private, but that doesn't mean they don't occasionally open up about what it's like for them to be parents.

In a new interview Gosling gave to GQ in honor of the release of the highly anticipated Barbie movie, the "Crazy Stupid Love" star made the sweetest comments about his little family.

Early in the interview, Gosling told reporters that he never thought he would be a father before he literally already was. He said he first imagined himself becoming a father when "Eva told me she was pregnant," adding, "I don't want to go back."

But if you're already salivating over this comment, wait until you read his words after you've had a little more time to think about the above.

"When asked about Eva and the child," he began, "I said, 'I'd like to go back.'

"I think I said I didn't think about children until she told me she was pregnant. That wasn't true. I didn't want to overshare, but I don't want to misrepresent it now."

"I mean, it's true that I wasn't thinking about kids until I met her, but after I met Eva I knew I didn't want to have kids without her.

"In 'Place Beyond the Pines' [the film in which the two first bonded during filming], there was a moment where we pretended to be a family, but I didn't want to pretend anymore. I thought, 'This is a really lucky life.'"[13

Gosling and Mendes had their first daughter Esmeralda Amada in 2014 and their second daughter Amada Lee in 2016.
