Why did Princess Kate wear Elie Saab's pink gown at the Jordanian royal wedding?

Prince William and Princess Kate made a surprise appearance at the royal wedding of Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan.

The royal fashion icons appeared in a stunning lace-embellished, long-sleeved, mock-neck dusty pink gown designed by Elie Saab. Paired with striking drop earrings and a gold clutch bag, the dress looked absolutely gorgeous on the princess.

Now one royal fashion commentator is asking the hard questions. I mean... Is that a yes or a no?

"Kate wore pink for the third time in the last week or so, which is unusual for a princess," Miranda Holder told the Express.

"Weddings are of course a celebration of love, and pink is the perfect color to continue this theme, but it is really interesting that the princess has worn this color three times in a row."

The other of those times was when Kate re-dressed in ME+EM pink for the recent Chelsea Flower Show in London.

"We know enough about the inner workings of the royal wardrobe to understand that this is no coincidence, and perhaps the palace wants to position Kate as a softer, gentler princess for the rest of the year," Holder suggested. 'Perhaps it is in anticipation of a new role within the office.'

"Elie Saab's gown, with its high neckline, flared cuffs, and moderately modest embroidery and ruched detailing on the bodice, was sophisticated without being ostentatious," commented the expert, which "is a very different feel from the businesslike, power-suited Kate we witnessed earlier this year The tone is very different from the power-suited, businesslike Kate we saw earlier this year," he added.

Here Holder is likely referring to Kate's entry into the business world in early 2023 on behalf of the Business Task Force for Early Childhood.

Kate and William's visit to Jordan was unexpected and unfortunately a bit of a tense moment, but all's well that ends well on that front.
