Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Netflix Documentary Nominated for Emmy Award

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are Emmy nominees The Mirror reports that their eponymous Netflix six-part documentary, "Harry & Meghan," could bring them nominations. (Did Meghan ever think that as an actress in "Suits," this is the Emmy she would be nominated for?)

"Variety" reports that the Sussexes are in the running for an Emmy for the show, and this exciting prospect shows that Netflix "has the staying power to continue funding the couple's projects," according to one expert.

"Harry & Meghan" was a huge hit when it was released last December, breaking streaming records for the service. Mark Boardman, who has deep experience in the industry, told Newsweek that if Harry and Meghan were nominated (and perhaps even more if they won), it could lead to future opportunities and business deals: "Just the prospect of being nominated for an Emmy Award, It's a significant achievement in the television industry," he said, adding that it would be "of immense importance and relevance to the Sussexes."

Boardman said he is "confident" that Harry & Meghan's chances of being nominated are "very high."

"What Harry and Meghan need now is industry recognition, and that's exactly what Variety magazine has done by adding their show to its projected nominations in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction category," he said.

Boardman also predicted that the show, if nominated, would be among the top three to win the category. The Emmys will be held on September 19 in Los Angeles, and nominations will be announced next month.
