Eva Mendes shaves her face every other day: "I am a beast."
One of my favorite events in the beauty world is when a celebrity shares their beauty secrets with the public. When that "secret" is something that doesn't require billions of dollars or an appointment with an inaccessible dermatologist, the moment is even better. I digress: in Eva Mendes' latest Instagram post, she shows off her long-standing skin care ritual of "shaving her face." And how regularly she does it: ...... That may come as a shock to you.
After one follower asked Hitch Star how often she puts a razor to her face, she joked: "I'm a beast, so probably every other day. Ha ha. When I get a chill, I get hairy. When I'm in the shower and shaving my legs, I get a chill and it ruins the whole process. Mendes regularly visits Dr. Mariana Vergara at Beauty Villa Vergara for professional dermaplaning treatments, but she probably does a little trimming in the comfort of her own home.
The good news: shaving your face is actually super easy and very safe. Sure, you need to make sure you're working on a clean surface and using one of the best dermaplaning tools, but other than that it should be smooth sailing. Dr. Joyce Park, a board-certified dermatologist, once told Marie Claire magazine to wash your face before the procedure, make sure the dermaplaning tools and scalpels are disinfected, and wear gloves while working. He then pulls the skin taught at a 45-degree angle and removes the peach fuzz from the face in small, short movements.
When all is said and done, you should notice a pretty big difference in how your skin feels and looks. Says Dr. Park, "Dermaplaning is said to make skin look brighter, improve makeup application, and help skin care products penetrate deeper." Still a skeptic," Mendes' glowing skin is proof of that.
