Lupita Nyongo dazzles in a breastplate that mimics her own body shape.
Lupita Nyongo's red carpet style never fails (I think we all remember that baby blue Cinderella gown).
In her latest appearance, Nyongo went a completely different sartorial route, but just as successful.
The Black Panther star wore a one-of-a-kind custom-made silver breastplate that was an exact replica of her own bust shape. Paired with an elegant black pantsuit, this piece was truly a living work of art.
The actress shared on Instagram how much this breastplate meant to her.
"I am honored, humbled, strengthened, and energized to wear this breastplate that @mishajapanwala cast and molded from my body," Nyongo wrote.
"Misha Japanwala is a Pakistani artist and fashion designer. In her artistic process, she creates real and truthful documentation of the human body as an act of resistance and celebration, and as an assertion of being allowed to exist freely in our bodies.
She further introduced Japanwala's own words explaining how the designer reclaimed the word "shameless" to celebrate the body as it is.
"Misha, thank you for this special opportunity to be here, now, in this body, as it is," Nyongo concluded her caption.
Not surprisingly, Janelle MonĂ¡e described the look as "phenomenal" in the comments section, and singer Lauren Jauregui posted a heart eye emoji and a fire emoji to express her approval.
Nyongo is no stranger to admiring her body from all angles. Last year, she posted a series of bikini photos on Instagram, writing, "From summer body to pasta body in one week! Love them both!!!
