Spotify Discovers Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Dissolved Their Partnership

Spotify and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ended their relationship this week after three years, $20 million, and just 13 episodes of content. What went wrong, other than the seemingly obvious?

According to The Sun, Spotify is trying to remove any content that does not meet viewers' demands. The company's CEO, Daniel Eck, admits that the company is "overpaying and overinvesting," and it appears that Harry and Meghan have suffered the same fate as Michelle Obama, who was forced to drop her podcast last year because it did not attract enough listeners.

"We're going to be very careful about how we invest in future content deals," Eck told the BBC. 'And the ones that aren't working, obviously we won't renew. And the ones that are doing well, we will obviously look at them on a case-by-case basis in terms of relative value.

This comes amid rumors that Harry and Meghan's multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix may also be in jeopardy. The Harry & Meghan documentary, which aired last year and became the most-watched subscription TV show of 2022, apparently has no plans for a sequel, and Netflix is unlikely to renew the couple's contract. There's a not-so-friendly attitude from some in upper management," says one insider. 'It's like the lemons have been squeezed out. The big money that Harry and Meghan signed on for is now non-existent."

That deal was also brokered in 2020 and was reportedly worth $100 million.
