You will notice that Prince William and Princess Kate have matching colors.

Queen Camilla often wears blue, and so does the Prince and Princess of Wales. In fact, William and Kate often dress the entire family in the color, as exemplified by the Father's Day photo released this past Sunday in honor of William. Fashion expert Rosie Hart tells the Daily Mail that the color symbolizes peace and modernity: "If you ask them what color they associate with the Welsh family, they will almost always say blue," she says. Starting with Issa's engagement dress and sapphire ring, Catherine has carefully nurtured her own connection to the color blue, wearing an inky blue blouse in her first official portrait in 2013, and in her second in 2022, beside Prince William in a suit and blue tie." teal-tinged dress from The Vampire's Wife; in the 10th wedding anniversary photo, Catherine wears a floral dress and Prince William a blue jumper; at the Easter service in Windsor in 2022, Prince William, Catherine, Prince George, and Sher Prince Lot wore various shades of blue."

But why blue in particular?" Says Hart, "Welsh blue" "distinguishes the five young royals as distinct units in a wider familial network, emphasizing their cohesion and suggesting a commonality of values. Blue is a friendlier alternative to the colors traditionally associated with royalty, far less aggressive than red and far more conservative than purple." It evokes peace and modernity and perfectly expresses the Welsh couple's quest to appeal to both traditional and progressive values in society."

As for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this time they have adopted green as their color, Harte says. 'The Sussexes certainly don't use color the way William and Catherine do. But they still seem to have chosen what they can call their own color." Green seems to be a common theme in their wardrobes and has appeared in many important moments in their married life. For their engagement shoot, Meghan chose an emerald green dress from P.A.R.O.S.H. and took off her coat for the interview. Journalists accustomed to seeing a set color scheme emerge for young royals were quick to point out that in the months between her engagement and wedding, Meghan was inclined to dress in a single green fringed outfit, accompanied by a neutral colored garment."

Two of the most prominent examples of the green color scheme occurred when Harry and Meghan departed for the Royal Society in early 2020, according to Hart. She says, "At their last engagement in the Commonwealth service, Meghan chose a bright green Emilia Wickstead cape dress, and Prince Harry emphasized it by wearing a lined suit in the same shade."

In 2021, they were photographed for a Time magazine shoot, and Harry wore a Harry wore a casual, understated suit, while Meghan wore a monochromatic outfit in different shades of green, with wide pants and a sturdy coat.

So what does the color green mean to the Sussexes? Says Hart, "Practically speaking, it blends very nicely with the other symbolic aspects they have chosen to align themselves with." 'The Duke and Duchess like to pose for official portraits outside. It is much less alienating than being inside the grand palace and nicely complements their personal interest in environmental causes, which Prince Harry and Prince William take very seriously." The landscapes in which the Sussexes appear are often green, and by wearing this shade, they are able to complement their surroundings while bringing green into the rest of the environment."[11

Who would have thought that the colored dress Kate and Meghan chose for their engagement shoot would become their signature color?
