Ariana Grande Responds to "Concerns" About Her Body: "Looking Healthy Can Look Different

Over the past few weeks, Ariana Grande has received many comments about her body.

Unfortunately, Grande saw these comments and posted them on TikTok, requesting that people think more carefully about their words and avoid commenting on other people's bodies altogether, no matter how well intentioned they believe they are.

"I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body, to be seen, and to be taken such great care of," she said.

"I think we should be more gentle and not be so afraid to comment on people's bodies. If you say something nice or well-meaning, whatever it is, healthy, unhealthy, big, small, this, that, sexy, not sexy, I don't think so ....... We should all strive not to. There are ways to praise someone, and there are ways to ignore what we don't like when we see it.

Starr also commented specifically about her own body and how these supposed "concerns" about her health are wrong about her actual health. (Remember, you can't tell about a person's health just by looking at them, and even if you could, it is not your place to comment on it.)

"My point was," Grande continued, "that for one thing, there are different kinds of beautiful. [Personally, the body you are comparing to my current body was the unhealthiest version of my body.

"I was taking a lot of antidepressants, I was drinking on antidepressants, my diet was disordered, and I was at the bottom of my life, and it looked like you thought I was 'healthy' but actually it was not my healthy ....... I know I don't have to explain that, but I feel like by being open about it here, I'm coming across as sort of vulnerable.... Maybe something good will come out of it.

The "Thank You, Next" singer ended the video by sending love to everyone watching and telling them they are all beautiful.

Fans flocked to the comments, criticizing the body-shamers and sending their support to Grande.

One wrote, "y'all are so comfortable going online to talk about other people's bodies. It's very weird behavior that is unfortunately so normalized ." he wrote.

Noah Schnapp wrote, "I love you."

Another fan wrote, "It didn't have to get this far for her to have to deal with her looks."

Sadly, women in the public eye must constantly defend themselves against those who think their bodies should look different. Selena Gomez regularly takes to social media to respond to body critics, and recently, Halle Berry hit back at those who deny that she takes nude photos. Seriously, don't do it.
