Less than a year after Shakira and Gerard Pique announced their separation, the "Waka Waka" singer revealed that she and her two sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, will leave Barcelona and move to Miami.

Pique was born in Barcelona and played soccer for his hometown club FC Barcelona from 2008 to 2022. Shakira is from Barranquilla, Colombia, but much of her family now lives in Miami.

"I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability. The same stability we are now looking for in another part of the world, next to family, friends, and the ocean. Today we begin a new chapter in our search for happiness," the superstar wrote (translated by Harper's Bazaar), along with a photo of the Catalan city.

In Barcelona, Shakira's house was next door to Pique's mother's house.

The ex-couple's separation was quite dramatic, and rumors circulated that Pique had an affair with his current girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

Shakira released several songs containing lyrics critical of his ex-girlfriend, and he has given several highly controversial interviews.
