Meghan Markle Honored for "Incredible Leadership" in Gender Equality

Meghan Markle has been announced as one of this year's recipients of the Ms. Foundation For Women's Woman of Vision Award. [The Duchess of Sussex will receive the award at a gala in New York City on May 16 and will be honored for her "global advocacy to empower and champion for women and girls."

Steinem and the Duchess have been close friends for some time now, thanks to their many shared interests, especially the advancement of women.

"I'm not a media expert, but she's not what she seems to be in the media," Steinem told People in 2022. 'She's smart, funny, and dedicated to social issues. Maybe the British tabloids are the problem."

Teresa C. Younger, president and CEO of the Ms. Foundation, said of the Duchess and her fellow honorees, "We are excited to announce this year's Women of Vision Award winners and celebrate 50 years of progress and power." [Megan, Latosha, Wanda, Kimberly, Olivia, and Rebecca are amazing leaders and we are grateful to be able to shine a light on their many accomplishments and tireless work for gender and racial equality in our country and the world."

The Duchess has been recognized for her lifelong work on behalf of gender equality, beginning with her pre-royalty work with UN Women, World Vision Global, and One Young World, and continuing with her work with the Archiwell Foundation and her podcast, Archetypes.
