Princess Kate "Pushes the Limits" of Royal Rituals in Latest Campaign, Commentator

Princess Kate launched a new campaign a few weeks ago called "Shaping Us."

The campaign is part of her broader work around infant welfare and is, as the Crown Prince and Princess wrote on Instagram, "all about the social impact we can have to change the lives of generations to come."

Kate's latest initiative as part of the campaign was to head to the City of London to launch the Business Task Force for Early Childhood, which will include leaders from a variety of highly influential companies, including IKEA, LEGO, and Deloitte.

The Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood wrote on Instagram about the meeting: "Our Business Task Force gathered yesterday to discuss how investing in early childhood will change lives for generations to come. We discussed how investing in early childhood can create the social change needed to transform lives for generations to come. As the saying goes, it really does take a village." [For Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito, hosts of the podcast "Royally Obsessed," the move was a bold one within the framework of royal ritual.

"I think this is kind of incredible," Fiorito said (via Express).

"This really feels like she's getting things done and getting people involved who can talk about the future of the workforce, about child care, about parental leave, all these things that are so important."

Kate's work on early childhood and Meghan Markle's campaign for better childcare run parallel here, with the difference that Kate has to be more careful not to tread into dangerous political territory as a senior royal.

Bowie said, "This is a complex area to tackle and she can't influence policy changes too much. It can't be too political. But I felt that this was very tactical and a step in the right direction."

She also said, "I think it's a very good idea.

And then there is the danger of the opposite perspective: the question of whether Kate can have any substantive impact while avoiding taking a controversial stance.

Fiorito said, "I think there is a criticism that within the framework of royalty, 'how much can she actually accomplish until she pushes the boundaries?'"

"But this feels like she is stepping out of her lane to push boundaries and bring CEOs and C-suite executives into the 'shaping-ass' equation."

Good for her.
