Shakira's ex, Gerard Pique, indirectly refers to cheating allegations: "I want to be true to myself."

In June 2022, Shakira and Gerard Pique announced their breakup.

In September 2022, the Hips Don't Lie singer called the aftermath of their breakup "the darkest time of my life," but not to worry! Piquet says he is "very happy." Ah, phew!

In an interview with Spain's El PaĆs newspaper, indirectly addressing the cheating allegations, the former soccer player said, "I will keep doing what I want to do. When I die, I will look back and think that I always did what I wanted to do. I want to be true to myself. I'm not going to spend money to clean up my image" (translated by E! News).

Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.

The former professional athlete continued, "The people I love and care about are the people who know me. The rest don't matter to me. I spend my energy on being with the people I love and giving what I have. I am very happy. My life has changed, but I know how to stay happy."

After the breakup, Pique joined Clara Chia Marti, an individual (not a celebrity).

He and Shakira have two children, Sasha and Milan, and they are now one of his top priorities.

He said, "Everyone has a responsibility to try to do what is best for their children," adding, "It's about protecting them. That's the job of every parent with children. That's what I focus on and that's my job as a father."

As you can imagine, Shakira's fans were not at all impressed by Pique's remarks.

"Translation: I'm a selfish man. I don't care who I hurt in the process," one wrote.

"Okay. Shakira, make an album of lemonade at this point. I'll buy it," said another.

"Why did he talk? I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to that question.
